It is 1941. Young, beautiful Aurora leaves behind a tumultuous Spain and a tormented past to move to Mexico, where she takes a job as a nanny for the wealthy Vigil de Quiñones family. There she finds a very different atmosphere to the gloomy Spain she is fleeing from: dances, parties, great orchestras and, above all, a growing film industry whose stars compete with those of Hollywood. Aurora realises that her true future is in this exciting country, not in a Spain burdened by struggle. In love with Pablo Aliaga, a young Spaniard full of dreams of fortune and glory and obsessed with finding three rolls of a cursed film that disappeared in 1936, Aurora strikes up a friendship with an enigmatic German woman who runs a brothel that hides many a mystery. Fate will lead our young protagonist to choose between the past and the present.
