In 1923, Helena Lennox is 17 years old and has a single desire: to leave the streets of London for a life of adventure and excavations in distant lands. In consequence, when her parents go toIndia to investigate the disappearance of a number of archaeologists she decides to accompany them… a few days later and without their knowledge. There are many legends about the ghost city of Bhangarh, but Helena has never believed in superstitions. Notwithstanding, Prince Arshad of Jaipur (yes, the one who hates the English) insists that she is wrong: Bhangarh is cursed, and when the sun goes down, and dark falls on the royal palace, anything that enters its walls disappears without trace. During her travels around India in the 1920s, Helena is involved in an investigation in which only one thing seems certain: no one returns from the ciy of shadows.
