    Born in 1961 in Madrid, Villegas studied at San Luis de los Franceses school and finished her degree in Hispanic philology at the Complutense University in Madrid. She lived for several years in London and then moved to Santiago de Compostela where she ran a bookshop, María Balteira. Later on, she began to work as an editor and translator from French and English, to hold literature workshops and teach French and English. She currently edits the collection 'Versos' for Davinci Continental.
