Carmen Boullosa (born in Mexico City in 1954) is one of Mexico’s leading novelists, poets and playwrights. The prolific author, who has had literally scores of books, essays and dissertations written about her work, has been lauded by critics on several continents. “Mexico’s best woman writer,” wrote Roberto Bolaño.
Born in 1943 in Madrid, Falcón studied to be a historian and documentarian and practised both these professions for several years. After this she entered the world of fine art. She began her training in drawing and painting in 1983, and since 1992 has taken part in several exhibitions in Spain, and still paints to this day. Her other great calling, literature, came to fruition with her first novel, 'Número equivocado', published in 2005 by Tabla Rasa.
